2025 · Transforming tourism into a sustainable, local-first digital experience.
Most travel platforms are built for mass tourism.
Unexpected Italy is built for someone discovering a territory through the eyes of a local.
We designed the product to reflect that from the first screen.
Design approach: let the territory lead, let the locals speak.
Instead of explaining the platform in abstract, we put real craftsmen, boutique winemakers, and real product UI front and centre.
The product shows how it works: building an authentic route, bypassing tourist traps, supporting true local businesses. Always grounded in real people doing it: olive farmers, artisans, small family teams. Each section pairs the interface with what’s actually happening around it. You see the product in use, not in isolation.
The goal was to make the ethical, responsible model feel clear without needing to explain it.
While I did the website design, development was handled by the internal team at Unexpected Italy.
